I am a student Nurse and work very long hours, its just lately i have been questioning whether i can do this, i absolutely love the job, but it does often leave me mentally and psychically tired plus i have a family to look after so even when i finish my shift i cant fully unwind, before now i have been able to manage it

But just lately it has been a struggle i'm hoping this feeling will pass soon  Sad

aww that must be hard purplemoon to find time to relax and meditate.
try and rest as much as you can when you can and maybe take some little micro meditations, I do these all the time.
I just close my eyes for a few seconds and ask for energy to be sent my way if I am feeling fatigued.

It's hard and I know how you feel that there's not much time to spend with family, it makes you feel awful but you are doing your best

Is there anything in particular getting to you at work aside from missing family and being exhausted, is someone bringing you down or putting too much on your plate?? is there something that particularly triggers you?

Yes Cloud - there are a few things going at work ( especially with certain staff and being very clicky ) i'm lucky management really like me but that also means they do push me to my limit and i find it hard to say no at times

I know how you mean, that must be frustrating... They probably think you are able to take it all on but it's easy for others to forget that even though we are not complaining ...it's not to say we're not struggling..

How do you think it would go if you asked to talk to them and just mentioned you are finding it a bit too much at the moment?. It's daunting because then we worry they might think we're giving up or are somehow weak or something, but it's not that, you are just overwhelmed and I know a lot of work is put upon student nurses and doctors alike, you are human too we all have limits no matter how hard working and ambitious, sometimes we just come close to breaking point and I just think hugs with you feeling so bad it's probably a good idea to let them know how you are doing,

I do feel like it will pass in time, but also there's no harm in getting some support for yourself and being honest in how you feel. Theres a team there, the work load needs to be balanced between all of you, as great as you are, they cant expect you to take on sooo much.

I love you it's a compliment they like you, trust you and have faith in you... but you are tired, it's ok to ask for more time/support and some help.. burnout isa real thing and it sounds like you are close to it.. they should be very understanding of this

Even though we are not complaining ...it's not to say we're not struggling..

That is so very true, my manager said to me the other week, i wish more were like you, you come in get your job done don't complain nor moan like some.

I'm in tomorrow i will just say how down i'm feeling at the moment, its affecting my home life more than anything, x

Yeah i'm sure you feel torn, you know you have work to do but want to spend more time with the kids etc, and husband if you have one. I get it hugs definitely let them know, especially if they are trying to pile on more hours .. Just explain to them with your children and partner back at home you are finding you have very little time to spend with them and its causing upset for the kids, i'm sure they will understand,

It souns like you are doing so much and that can be expected but there must be some room to take some of the pressure off of you I love you good luck and let us know how you get on
